This piece is called Emergence III, it is cast glass. I used Gaffer glass from New Zealand, I love the colours and find it easy to work with. I am fascinated by the intricacy of an unfurling fern frond. so I used that to create my mould, I also carved into the plaster with my own interpretations of the spirals and delicacy of the subject.Happily somebody bought this at the Portrait Prize exhibition I was invited to be part of over the October long weekend. I am confident it has gone to a good home and will bring much joy to the household.
