Just One more.

With little over a week to go of 2011 I have created a new design. The picture shows one ready to be fired. Now what to call it? I will a small range of it available at the Handmade in the Hunter Market on Friday December 30th which you will find a Kevin Sobel's Winery, Broke Road Pokolbin. 9am-4pm.
thought I had finished for the year but the opportunity to be par tof this new boutique handmade market was too good to pass up.
Looking forward to a day in the beautiful rose garden of Sobel's winery, perhaps I will see you there. If you do come , introduce yourself and offer a suggestion as to what to call this new design.

It's nearly Christmas!!!

Only 11 more sleeps till the big guy in red comes to visit. I am getting excited! Had a big weekend with a market each day and now trying to sort myself out as to what I need to do for myself to be ready on 25th.
The Very Long Lunch Market at Wagstaffe last Saturday 10th was a fun day. Great location, great people passing by and the rain let up for the day. This was the view from my stall. So calming to be looking out on the little wooden boats bobbing on the water. the quality of the other stalls was fantastic, really proud to be part of this event. fingers crossed it may become a quarterly thing so stay tuned, I will certainly let everyone know.
Then on Sunday 11th was the much anticipated Central Coast Christmas Fair. Bianca and Brad from Fixx events put so much into everything they undertake. Thanks guys.
Again the sun shone, at least till it was time to pack up.
What a great way to finish my market year. Time to regroup, create some new designs and get myself ready for 22nd Jan and the next Avoca Beachside market.

Another great night.

On 25th November held the 4th Annual sale night and salute to the year. Can't believe this was the 4th one! What fun these nights are, not only from a sale point of view but it is a wonderful opportunity to catch up and say thanks to so many of my supporters who have helped in so many ways throughout the year. 2011 has flown, I know it means I'm getting older but this one went at super sonic speed.
Anyway, thanks again to everyone and with only 3 more shows to go for the year, hang on to your hats because 2012 is just around the corner.

New Design.

This is our new design, still haven't come up with a name for it,so any suggestions would be appreciated. We have had a great response to it already and it has only shown at one market so far!
which leads me to remind you of the Avoca Beachside Market that is on Sunday 27th November at Heazlett Park Avoca, 9am-2pm. Shaping up to be another great day with free live entertainment courtesy of Lizotte's, yummy food and the great new chill area under the trees. Not to mention the fantastic original products on the stalls. Christmas isn't far away so why not get a head start?

Portable glass ceiling.

Sometimes I really do wonder about myself but this is a picture of my latest project for my uni course. Do you think I fulfilled the brief to alter ones perception of an everyday object?
Certainly puts a whole new twist to hat hair!

Gorgeous Days.

Dare I say it out loud, we have had a week of the most gloreous days weatherwise. Today feels like Summer, don't worry that it is only just Spring. I am not getting too smug though, I am sure that there will be a chilly blast before the real thing is here for keeps.
Lots of projects underway in my glass world as well as everything else. I am madly working on my first submission for Objects & Ideas: Construction and Deconstruction, the current unit I am studying. When this is complete I will be half way there, time flies when you're having fun!
I have selected a speaker as my object and am feeling very challenged in many ways.
I have also signed up for a new venture, a pop up market in Taylor Square Sydney on Thursday 6th October. 5-9pm. It is part of the Crave festival. Run by Sydney Sustainable Markets I am trying to concentrate on re- using glass for my work. Lots of fun!!!

Another month gone!

The last month has passed so quickly, it is time to remind everyone again about the Avoca Beachside Market on this Sunday 28th August at Heazlett Park. So much has happened in the last few weeks.
I have had my mum come stay with me for over two weeks after having a fall, #1 son was rushed off to hospital with appendicitis and I spent 5 days in Hobart with hubbie who was attending a conference.
If you get the chance to go , you have to see MONA in Hobart, it is mind bogglingly amazing. Make the trip especially to see MONA you won't be sorry.
Fingers crossed that the rain stays away for the market on Sunday, I am really looking forward to it yet again. Great atmosphere and live music from Lizotte's, delicious food, not to mention the fantastic variety of stalls and the talented artisans that produce the work available from them.
Also whilst in Hobart discovered the fantastic designer, Sue Hall of Shalldesigns, she is upholstering vintage chairs in retro Aussie souvenir tea towels as well as other home wares. I commissioned a skirt made from a Morriset Pelican tea towel, can't wait to wear it on Sunday at the market.

Sunshine at Last!

What a beautiful day Sunday was to enable us to hold the Avoca Beachside Market for the first time in our new venue of Heazlett Park Avoca Beach. it was amazing how the blue sky and sunshine made everyone feel so good, especially after all the rainy grey days we have had of late. Looking forward to next time on Sunday 28th August. Put it in your diaries, you don't want to forget.

I had finally gotten around to making some tableclothes for my stall and if I say so myself they looked great.Just love that green!

Something new I have made, a fused glass Ikebana support. Really pleased with how they have turned out. The flowers are held in place with one of those spikey things that sits within a well that will hold the water as well.

I have so many ideas running around in my head that it is getting rather crowded inthere, time I let some of them materialise.

New Venue

This Sunday 24th July marks the first time Avoca Beachside Market will be held at its new venue in Heazlett Park. Lots of parking available and plenty of grassy areas for the kids to run around or to sit, have a picnic and enjoy the music provided by Lizotte's. You might even win a ticket or two for one of their shows. And of course there are all the wonderful stalls to have a look at and perhaps buy that special something for a gift or better yet for yourself!
so make a point of being there between 9am and 2pm.
Let me know you read about it on my blog and I will give you a discount on whatever you purchase. Find me at Stall 9 in the Village area.

Busy Days.

Rather than definite New Year resolutions I make a list of things I would like to accomplish once Christmas is over. Well, here it is 6 months later and I am yet to attack my list, it is not for want of doing, it is purely due to a distinct lack of time.

Also due to allowing life to take me on adventures that aren't scheduled in, for example, with a little over 2 weeks notice I escaped for a fortnight in Murano. Yes Murano, centre of the glass universe. What a glorious time it was too!

I attended a workshop at Abate Zanetti Scuola that was jointly led by Ellena Rossa of Murano and Fiona Rennie Schweiters of New Zealand. What an experience that was!

To be able to view Murano from the inside rather than as an outsider was a real privilege.

I can highly recommend Villa Lina B&B if you ever have the need to stay on Murano. The hostess Evi Ferro Nason is a delight. The picture above is a view from window across the canal showing the glow of forno.

The things I learnt about glass, myself and life in general, during this time are certainly invaluable. Can't wait to get back there.

Late start.

Here we are half way through February and I haven't posted any news since last year. no point going on about how quick the time flies, everybody knows that.

Something you might not know is, on Sunday 20th Feb the next Handmade Central coast Market will be held at Erina High School 10am-2pm. Come and introduce yourself I am at Stand 45. Look forward to meeting you.

Another exciting thing is I have completed my first year of my uni study. Now onto my first 2nd year subject and loving it more than ever. i can highly recommend to anyone the Open University scheme as a wonderful way to study. There are lots of different courses available and believe me it is never too late to start.

Last month I attended the Ausglas conference in Sydney. It was held at the Sydney College of the Arts campus at Rozelle, such an inspirational setting. That's a picture of some of the old sandstone buildings, it was the psychiatric hospital better known as Callen Park. Such history and now so full of life and promise.
